nmidUpDownMonitor v0.6a released

Post by phalek »

It's a simple plugin that sends an email alert once a device gets down. Uppon recoverry of the device, a "host up" alert is sent out containing the duration of the downtime and the time the host came up again.

Notifiction emails are configured on a per host basis.

Now also includes Interface Down/Up detection based on the Interface Status template. Each interface can send an alert to pre-configured email addresses.

You can download the latest version from the Project Page

In case you want to have some sofisticated alerting, use Manage or Thold plugin instead.

Hi,

after install and enable the following two errors come up :

Notice: Undefined variable: where_clause in /usr/local/cacti/plugins/nmidUpDownMonitor/nmidUpDownMonitor_InterfaceMonitor.php on line 64

and

Notice: Undefined index: nmidUpDownMonitor_InterfaceMonitor.php: in /usr/local/cacti/lib/functions.php on line 1743

Are there any fixes for these problems?

I'am using cacti 0.8.7e and pia 2.5

kindly regards,
Ralf Kirmis

Hi Ralf,

your're talking about the apache error log, i guess.

I try to make these errors go away, but they do not harm the functionality of the plugin itself.

I'm going to upload a newer version this evening ( 20:00 GMT +2 ). The current version is only able to monitor interface status of cisco devices.

Your will need to install/enable the storeLastPoll plugin as well.

Hi,

installed the new version -> OK Error Messages disappeared, but
How to use the plugin?

In Setup Interface Alerts there is no add or new button, to add
devices or interfaces.

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

The plugin adds a new field to the hosts called "Notificiation Email". If that field is set, that specific host will be monitored and an alert mail will be send to the email configured there.

For the interfaces:
You will need to graph the Interface Status template from here and configure it for your interfaces you want to monitor. Then wait for one polling cycle and all interfaces you had the Interface Status template configured will show up under the "Setup Interface Alerts" link.

you can then go on configureing the links.

See the screenshot below for the interface list.

Hi phalek:
I installed your plugin (version 0.7) on my cacti (0.8.7g), all was ok, but in "Setup Interface Alerts" I see each interface duplicated (look at the attached image). Could you take a look?. By the way, I had to install StoreLast poll plugin.... is it necessary?.

Thanks in advance..

Joseme

Yes, storeLastPoll is necesarry.

Btw. you can also use Thold to achieve the same results, just add an appropriate threshold to the interfaces.

HI Zoemu, you will also need to add/import the Interface status template from here: http://forums.cacti.net/about17722.html

Then add the query to your network switches/ports you want to monitor. These interfaces then show up within the page.

Do you have any plans to make this plugin compatible with new Cacti 1.X.

Thanks

Thold should/can be doing this as well when using the Status template from here http://forums.cacti.net/about17722.html

Unless there's something specifc about this which you require ? It should be fairly easy to migrate, but it's not a very high priority ....

(I know this is a newer version but coudnt find any forum related to this version)

My Problem is after configuring everything I manage to get alert emails to my self. but when I go to "Setup Interface Alerts" page status showing unknown. also there are no data on graph. I have attached some picture for referance.
