I specialised in the processing of specific syntactic phenomena in the brain. The course involved a combination of both cognitive neuroscience modules and advanced linguistics and experimental psychology modules. My MSc dissertation topic involved running and analysing self-paced reading experiments involving the parsing of relative clauses in real time with different types of embedding; investigating whether embedding a clause in the middle of a sentence leads to greater processing difficulty…

I specialised in Linguistics, with my thesis topic in Neurolinguistics examining how Greek-speaking Alzheimer's patients comprehend non-canonical word order. This involved visiting the Neurology ward in a hospital (Attikon Hospital, Athens) and a private psychiatric clinic (Aghios Charalambos, Heraklion, Crete) for two months to talk to families of and test patients suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular and Mixed Dementia as well as various forms of Aphasia.
