Don't forget to subscribe, leave a rating and a 5-star review. I will be shouting out all 5-star reviews on the show!

Today, we sit down with Scottie Smith, II, a Dallas-based real estate broker and Official Member of Forbes Real Estate Council. He began his real estate career at the age of 19 when he bought his first property using his scholarship money. By 21, he had done a major flip, a wholesale deal, and added another two properties to his portfolio.
Later on, Scottie decided to become a licensed broker. His aim was, and still is, to inspire and educate men and women who look like himself to build wealth using real estate.
In this episode, Scottie shares how he was able to find 104 people to invest into The Retreat at Lake Noire—his real estate project in Oakwood, Texas. He explains how his approach to affordable housing empowers and equips disadvantaged families to leave a legacy for future generations.
Highlights
1) When networking with people in the real estate industry, from trades to finance, focus on nurturing relationships for the long-term. You never know what opportunities will manifest down the road.
2) Success in finding the right investors and other key partners lies in masterfully telling a story about a property that doesn’t exist yet. You really only need one “yes” to open the door to capital.
3) Turn a property into a profitable long-term investment by focusing on the long-term affordability of a home and not just buying cheap. This includes maximizing energy efficiency and installing low-flow toilets and water faucets, etc.
