[INFO] Show off your Weathermaps.

Post by streaker69 »

I think the best way for people to get ideas for their own maps is t see what others are doing. How about those that are willing to share their maps here. Sanitized of any sensitive information of course.

Here's one of mine which is our SCADA Control Network that encompasses 4 buildings interlinked with 100mb Fiber. I"ve almost completed this project where we converted our old ModBus+ Control network to Ethernet.

What I did on this map is got pictures of the actual equipment that I'm using an converted them to PNG and resized them so they fit nicely on the map. Gives people who aren't familiar with the system a better idea of what they're looking at.

Nice :-) I'll sort out some more of mine the next few days...

Here's one to get going. It's the reason why WM 0.9 allowed data for nodes, gauge: prefix and formatting. This is a map of temperatures around a datacentre, collected using 1-wire sensors. The nodes are the sensors, and the link arrows are just used to show where the cable runs go.

One small request to add: if anyone else does post, would you mind if I use the images on the weathermap site's gallery too? It'd be nice to have some proof that other people use this thing :-) *I* know there are plenty of users, but all those maps are private, of course.

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Sure, you can use these Howie.

The one with all the little circles is generated by a script every night out of our Cacti DB. The other two are different views of the same network.

Is the AS map using something fancy like netflow data, or just (sub-)interface-per-peer traffic data? That's a neat view.

Howie,

You can use my map on your site, you already have a copy of the one map. I'll post a recent copy of that one when I get it updated.

I have another map I can't show that's sort of similar that does the netflow stats. It's a slightly different format as it is AS to AS, not network to network.

Not one of my own but while I was searching for some weathermap examples on images.google.com I came across the following... I hope you all have a good resolution monitor ;)

http://apu.u-bordeaux.fr/public/public-weathermap.html

I am not 100% that the people viewing this weathermap can actually use it for anything but it must have taken the author ages!!

I think it was probably automatically generated somehow, from the look of it... interesting map though :-)

This one is based on Weathermap4rrd. You can rollover links and mem/cpu/temp and it will show that graph's thumb. They are also clickable and will take user to all graphs for that device.
