Weathermap Does Have a Future

Post by Howie »

I just realised that I've never really mentioned any of this on the forum here...

Weathermap has its own website, with a blog, that I update from time to time with progress reports. It also has a forum (brand new), which I'll use to post howtos, try to get some discussion about development going, and also as an alternative for support, (especially if you don't use Cacti!). There's a twitter account and facebook page linked on the page, too, for people who like that kind of thing.

Another related thing is that I moved from subversion to github a couple of years ago, and use the github issue tracker for tracking open bugs (not support requests - that's what the forum is for).

Currently Weathermap 0.98 is not compatible with Cacti 1.x and PHP 7. Work is going on to fix that, and you can see the outstanding tasks here: https://github.com/howardjones/network- ... ne%3A1.0.0

v1.0.0 (which the next version will finally be) is fairly close now. If you have a test system (NOT YOUR PROD Cacti), then it's probably usable for testing right now. If you want to help test, grab the database-refactor branch, and read the Readme.md file - there are some extra things you need to do as a dev user that you wouldn't for a final version. Please also check the issues list to avoid creating a new duplicate issue.

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Santa :-) Maybe Krampus... ;-)

Yes, it will definitely need some testing.

Greetings ^^

I would like to know if a new stable version of Weathermap that will support cacti 1.1.X (actually 1.1.38) would come out soon ?

Best regards,

Hi Howie,
We are also curious about when a Cacti 1.x compatible version of Weathermap might be released.

Looking at the "to-do" list https://github.com/howardjones/network- ... projects/6 I had a thought. Don't know if it would apply to others, but we could live without the editor, updated documentation and any new features for awhile. Maybe they could be included in 1.1? Just a suggestion on perhaps a way to get the release out a bit sooner.

Thanks again for all your work on this. It is an AMAZING tool!

I rely heavily on Cacti & Weathermaps. Been a long time user.
The features of the new Cacti releases are so tempting, it is only weathermap holding me back.
I could do without the editor for now if I had the option to move to latest cacti version and still be able to use weathermaps.

I have hope that Howie will pull through. The way our environment has been evolving, make me in need of some of the newer cacti features.

Good luck Howie, I hope everything is going good. If I could help, I would, but I don't know enough...

Happy new year everyone.

Unfortunately for both of you, the editor is pretty much working :-)

I'm no longer a user of Cacti or Weathermap, really, but I am still interested in the React-based UI, just to learn some new programming stuff.

No, that's not true, it's just not as high on the list as living life. Feel free to contribute pull requests to help it along as I have done on occasions :)

This is such a great Plugin and Standalone "App" that it would be a great shame not to see any further development on it , My PHP skills are rather limited and outdated..it's been about 11 years since I've done anything, but i can try to help in anyway can...I think the first thing is to get more contributors and try to have a fully working platform...just my thoughts.

all this Of course with Howie's Permission
